Unnamed Male Twin Quattrin
Birth: 23 Aug 1902, Zoppola, Italy
Death: 23 Aug 1902, Zoppola, Italy
Burial: 23 Aug 1902, Zoppola, Italy
The sixth child of Giovanni Battista Quattrin and Elisabetta De Paoli was the older twin brother of Leopoldo Quattrin. He was still-born on August 23, 1902, and, hence, was not given a name. This has led to supposition that they had Twin-Twin Transfusion Syndrome.
TTTS is a rare, serious condition which can occur when identical twins share a placenta (monochorionic). Abnormal blood vessel connections form in the placenta that allow blood to flow unevenly between the fetuses. In TTTS, the recipient twin's blood can become thick and difficult to pump around the body. This may lead to heart failure, generalized soft tissue swelling, and in some cases, fetal death. The donor twin is at risk for failure of the kidneys and other organs because of inadequate blood flow.
Poldi had to live life for the both of them.
